New! Make your own requests in WorldCat
Now you can directly request materials in WorldCat that are not owned in SCLS libraries. Worldcat is a database of millions of records describing books and other library materials from around the world. By creating your own WorldCat account, you will be able to request materials held in libraries throughout the United States, and monitor the status of your requests!
Create an account:
- Click on the WorldCat link on the left sidebar.
- Choose My Account from the top of the page, and then choose New User Registration.
- Fill out all of the required fields, and choose a user name and password. When finished, click Register at the bottom.
- Be sure to sign into your account when using WorldCat. Your account information will automatically be stored, so you will not have to re-enter it when making requests.
Make a request:
- Connect to WorldCat, sign in to your account and search for your item. You have access to materials located throughout the United States!
- Click the
ILL icon from the tools or the Borrow an item not found in LINKcat link. This will bring up the request form. Make sure the required information has been filled in, including your library card number. - Click the Submit button. This sends your request to Baraboo Public Library staff. We will forward your request to libraries outside of SCLS who may, or may not, choose to send the item to us.
- If all libraries are unable to loan the item to us, we will notify you by mail.
- If you have any questions, call 608-356-6166 or email.
