Scarecrows on Parade

Families are welcome.

Create and display a scarecrow in your yard and be part of our community-wide Scarecrow Parade! Display your scarecrow in your yard or at Ochsner Zoo, September 19 - October 12.

You can pick up a registration form in person at the Youth Services desk starting Friday, August 21.

Scarecrow Creation Workshop - Saturday, September 19, 10– Noon. Join us at Ochsner Park on Saturday, September 19 to create your own family scarecrow. Library will provide supplies for one scarecrow per family.  Library will NOT be providing clothing/costume supplies due to COVID-19 safety concerns. The library will provide the straw, frames, and burlap. Space is limited, so pre-registration is REQUIRED.

Or ... Build your scarecrow at home with your own supplies. Register your scarecrow with the library and we will put your creation on our parade route map.

Registered scarecrows will be judged by library staff on Wednesday, September 30.  Prizes will be awarded in five categories: Silliest, Most Creative, Best Book Character, People’s Choice, and Best Business. This program is co-sponsored with the Baraboo Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.
